Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc – Hospital Director and Chief Editor shared that the book not only marks the effort of the medical team in documenting difficult cases, but also serves as a commitment to continuously improve professional quality. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc emphasized: "This collection will be a motivation and a direction of action for young doctors. The recorded difficult-to-diagnose, complex treatment cases not only help us refine processes but also create opportunities to share knowledge with colleagues. I hope that, from this book, many more specialized publications will emerge, contributing to building valuable reference material for Vietnam's healthcare sector."

Inspired by the teachings of William Osler, one of the founding fathers of modern medicine: "Always observe and record abnormal signs... That information is always valuable", "Collection of Outstanding Clinical Case Reports" is a work distilled from more than 5 years of practical diagnosis and treatment at ĐHYD Hospital. The book is 500 pages thick, comprising 58 real cases across many specialties such as Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Neurology, Cardiology, Dermatology… This is the result of the effort, dedication, and intellect of a collective of authors from various specialties throughout the Hospital, representing close interdisciplinary collaboration. Each case record not only documents signs, symptoms, or treatment methods but also focuses on the process of analysis, synthesis, and clinical reasoning to arrive at the final diagnosis.

In the introduction to the book, Associate Professor Dr. Lê Minh Khôi - Head of Science & Training Department at ĐHYD Hospital shared: “The case reports in the book, whether simple or complex, are clear evidence that no two patients are identical, and not every case follows classic theories. It is precisely from these challenging clinical situations that doctors have applied analytical reasoning and analysis to make accurate diagnoses and effective treatments. These lessons are not only valuable material for young doctors but also an inspiration for the learning journey and dedication in the medical field.”

Clinical case reports, even though they are placed at the lowest level of the medical evidence hierarchy, still play an important role in providing real-world data. They form a foundation that helps young doctors and medical students develop logical thinking, practice skills, and gain a deeper understanding of real clinical situations.
