NGND Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi honored and presented the "Lifetime Achievement" award (Lifetime achievement award)
On the evening of September 11, 2025, at the closing ceremony of the 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference 2025 organized by the Vietnam Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Asian Hospital Management Association in Ho Chi Minh City, the organizers presented the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi, former President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the first Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (BV DHYD), for his contributions to Vietnam's healthcare sector.
This is a prestigious award of the conference, a recognition by the Vietnam Ministry of Health and the Asian Hospital Management Association, specially dedicated to individuals who have made significant contributions to healthcare in the Asian region. The award committee unanimously selected Professor Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi upon the recommendation of the Vietnam Ministry of Health.
After graduating from Hanoi Medical University in 1960, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi taught at Hanoi Medical University and Viet Duc Hospital. From 1993 to 2007, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi was appointed President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Despite bearing the responsibilities of administration, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi maintained the spirit of an educator and physician. He is the chief editor of 10 textbook volumes, 5 specialist monographs; the principal investigator of many research projects at the State and Ministry levels and has published over 70 scientific works.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi is a pioneer who established the School–Institute model in Vietnam; he places special emphasis on human resources management, postgraduate education, specialized training, and medical ethics, thereby turning BV DHYD into a reputable medical center integrating teaching, research, and treatment, while also exerting a profound influence on the development of Vietnam's medical field.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi has made many outstanding contributions to various councils, professional associations. He has served as Chairman of the Ministry of Health Science and Technology Council, Chairman of the Presidents Council of Medical and Pharmacy Universities, Chairman of the Professorship Council of the Vietnamese Medical Field, Chairman of the Endoscopy Surgery – Vietnam Endoscopy Association, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Surgery Association, and Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Gastroenterology Science Association.
In his role as leader of professional societies, he has promoted many scientific research activities, organized conferences, exchanged experiences, and developed international cooperation, contributing to raising the status of Vietnam's medical sector.
The great contributions of Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi have been recognized with many prestigious awards: People's Teacher title in 1996, Ton That Tung Award in 2004, Innovation in Science and Technology Award in 2006 for his significant contributions to the development of Vietnam's medical field.
The 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference in 2025 attracted over 1,352 delegates from more than 30 countries (including 334 delegates from Vietnam), comprising speakers, managers, leaders of top hospitals in the region, and renowned global healthcare solution providers.
