On May 16, 2025, the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, and the University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City officially launched a professional book series titled “Guide Handbook: Setting Goals and Evaluating Outcomes in Nursing Interventions”. This is the first specialized Vietnamese-language document standardizing nursing evaluation language according to international standards, marking an important step forward in improving patient care quality and developing the nursing profession in Vietnam.

The book launch event is part of a series of activities for International Nursing Day 2025, with the theme “Nursing in the Future – Dreams Within Reach”. According to Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Minh – Head of the Hospital Nursing Department, this year’s theme conveys a message of a positive transformation of the nursing field, where professional aspirations and an independent role in the healthcare system are no longer distant dreams, but are gradually becoming reality thanks to the persistent efforts of the medical workforce.

“We aim to develop a standardized, easy-to-use tool that helps nurses set clear care goals, accurately assess the effectiveness of interventions, and continuously improve care quality,” Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hồng Minh said.

The collection consists of more than 13,000 target and outcome indicators, covering 34 nursing care fields. This is not only an effective tool for supporting clinical practice, but also plays an important role in student training, scientific research, and especially the ability to integrate into electronic medical records (EMR) – an essential factor in modern healthcare digital transformation.

Immediately after release, this document will be disseminated to healthcare facilities, specialized training schools, and nursing – medical technical staff both within and outside the Hospital, to quickly apply it in practice.

In recent years, the Nursing Department of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City has continuously strived to develop and refine professional documents to standardize care activities and enhance nursing competence. The meticulously compiled collections, launched in 2023 and 2024, have contributed to establishing a solid knowledge base, effectively supporting training efforts and improving patient care quality at many healthcare facilities nationwide.

Continuing to introduce a new book series this year is not only a sustainable continuation of the academic journey, but also affirms the Hospital's long‑term commitment in the strategy of developing nursing human resources – the workforce that plays a key role in the modern and humane health care system.
