Honoring Physicians Who Keep the Flame of Medical Communication Alive

On the morning of 18/11/2025, Tuoi Tre newspaper organized the Launch Ceremony of the nomination award "Medical Media Ambassador - KMOLs". The event was inspired by the idea of building a "Doctors for the Community" ecosystem - KMOLs of the University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD).

Since 2023, BV ĐHYD has launched the KMOLs initiative - Key Medical Opinion Leaders, organizing a series of 12 seminars across the North, Central, and South regions, in collaboration with RMIT University Vietnam, Central Military Hospital 108, and Central Hospital Hue, aiming to build and develop communication skills for medical professionals to create influence in the digital society.

It can be seen that the image of the medical professional today is not only linked to operating rooms or hospitals, but also appears as symbols of compassion, knowledge, and daily positive inspiration.

In his opening remarks at the ceremony, journalist Tran Xuan Toan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper, affirmed: "Through the award, Tuoi Tre newspaper wishes to spread beautiful stories in the journey of dedication and service to medicine, along with communication initiatives that carry humanistic values, helping the community access medical and health information accurately and effectively".

At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Le Khac Bao, Deputy Director of the University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, shared that the hospital's management board always pays attention to guiding communication activities, especially initiatives that help disseminate correct medical knowledge to the community. "The hospital wishes that teachers - physicians are not only professionally excellent in clinics or lecture halls, but also able to accompany the community, listen, share, and convey medical knowledge in a close, understandable, and humane manner," emphasized Associate Professor Dr. Le Khac Bao.

During the program, the guests shared sincere thoughts, opening a fresh perspective on the role of health communication in modern society.  
"He is a seasoned expert Associate Professor Pham Cong Hiep, Deputy Head of Department in charge of Research and Innovation at RMIT University Vietnam, believes that creativity in health communication is not about grabbing attention at any cost: "Creativity is not drama, but a way to make content more understandable. However, he emphasizes: the core scientific part "cannot be fabricated, cannot be changed".

Associate Professor Đỗ Thị Nam Phương, Head of the Media Center of the University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, shares: "To become KMOLs – beyond having strong professional expertise, the medical team needs digital communication skills, knows how to listen, understand, can translate professional language into relatable messages, and knows how to protect themselves in the online environment. Moreover, a strong organization helps individuals develop, reputable individuals elevate the organization's value. Medical talent, regardless of position, also has the responsibility to disseminate correct knowledge for community health.''

Health communication is not just information, but a thread that supports trust between the public and the medical sector. The award "Health Communication Ambassador – KMOLs" therefore is not only to honor, but also to remind that behind every medical advice there is a heart striving to bring the right thing to the community.
