NGND Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi is honored and receives the "Lifetime Achievement" award (Lifetime achievement award)
On the evening of 11/9/2025, at the closing ceremony of the 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference 2025 organized by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam in collaboration with the Asian Hospital Management Association in Ho Chi Minh City, the organizers presented the "Lifetime Achievement" award (Lifetime Achievement Award) to NGND Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi, former President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the first Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital (BV ĐHYD), for his contributions to the healthcare sector of Vietnam.
This is a prestigious award of the Conference, recognized by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam and the Asian Hospital Management Association, specially designated for individuals who have made significant contributions to healthcare in the Asian region. The award jury unanimously selected Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoi upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.

After graduating from Hanoi Medical University in 1960, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi taught at Hanoi Medical University and Viet Duc Hospital. From 1993 to 2007, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi was appointed as the President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Despite bearing the heavy responsibility of management, Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi still maintains the spirit of an educator and physician. He is the chief editor of 10 textbook volumes, 5 specialized books; He leads many research projects at the State and Ministry levels and has published more than 70 scientific works.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi is a pioneer who laid the foundation for the School–Institute model in Vietnam, he especially focuses on human resource management, postgraduate education, deep specialty training, and upholding medical ethics, thereby turning the University Hospital of Hanoi Medical University into a reputable medical center that combines teaching – research – treatment, while also having a profound impact on the development of Vietnam's medical sector.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi has made many outstanding contributions to councils and professional societies. He has served as Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Ministry of Health, Chairman of the Council of University Deans of Medical and Pharmaceutical Universities, Chairman of the Council of Professor Titles in the field of Medicine in Vietnam, Chairman of the Endoscopic Surgery – Vietnam Endoscopy Association, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Surgery Association, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese Digestive Science Association.
In his role as a leader of professional societies, he has promoted numerous scientific research activities, organized conferences, facilitated experience exchange, and developed international cooperation, contributing to raising the stature of Vietnam's medical sector.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Hoi's great contributions have been recognized with many prestigious awards: the People's Teacher title in 1996, the Ton That Tung Award in 2004, and the Science and Technological Innovation Award in 2006 for his significant contributions to the development of Vietnam's medical field.
The 24th Asian Hospital Management Conference in 2025 attracted over 1,352 delegates from more than 30 countries (including 334 delegates from Vietnam), comprising speakers, managers, leaders of top hospitals in the region, and renowned global healthcare solution providers. The conference aims to provide hospital owners, CEOs, directors, physicians, and healthcare leaders with insights into healthcare management thinking, patient safety, patient experience, healthcare staff experience, practice systems, and the best solutions worldwide, while also creating a connecting forum in Asia.
