Young presenters from University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City won four awards at the 2026 International Interhospital Scientific Conference.
Recently, at the 2026 International Interhospital Scientific Conference, held from August 1 to 2, 2026, at the Ariyana International Convention Center in Da Nang City, young presenters from University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC) won four awards out of eight presentations submitted. Among nearly 200 presentations delivered at the conference, the achievements included two First Prizes, one Third Prize, and one Promising Presentation Award, demonstrating the professional expertise, scientific research capabilities, and academic spirit of the Hospital’s young physicians and nurses.
Under the theme “Evidence-Based Medicine from a Multidimensional Perspective,” the conference brought together numerous domestic and international experts, scientists, and healthcare professionals to share new findings, exchange experiences, and update trends in medical practice. The program was jointly organized by seven hospitals, including Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Da Nang Hospital, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong General Hospital, Gia Lai Provincial General Hospital, Ha Giang General Hospital of Tuyen Quang Province, and Ninh Binh Provincial General Hospital.
In the First Prize category, Dr. Ha Quoc Hung, Specialist Level I – Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, was honored at the Surgical Session for his study entitled “Analgesic Efficacy of Erector Spinae Plane Block and Intermittent Programmed Paravertebral Block in Lobectomy: A Randomized Controlled Non-Inferiority Trial.”
Also receiving a First Prize, MSc. Vo Thi Cam Nhung, RN – Nursing Department, was awarded at the Nursing Session for her study entitled “Screening for the Risk of Pressure Injury at Hospital Admission: Application of the Braden Scale and Additional Predictive Factors in Inpatients.”
In the Third Prize category, Dr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Specialist Level I – Department of Diagnostic Imaging, received the award for his study entitled “The Value of Computed Tomography in the Diagnosis of Rim-Enhancing Focal Liver Lesions.” Dr. Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, Specialist Level I – Department of Diagnostic Imaging, received the Promising Presentation Award for her study entitled “The Value of Computed Tomography in the Diagnosis of Focal Liver Lesions with Strong Non-Rim Enhancement.”
A common feature of this year’s award-winning studies is that they all originated from issues arising in clinical practice at UMC. From optimizing postoperative pain management and improving the quality of nursing care to applying diagnostic imaging in the assessment of liver lesions, the studies all aim to contribute evidence for clinical practice, thereby improving the quality of treatment and patient care.
Sharing his experience at the conference, Dr. Ha Quoc Hung, Specialist Level I, said that the most meaningful aspect for him was not only the award but also the opportunity to learn from and exchange professional knowledge with experts and colleagues from hospitals across the country. According to him, although each specialty has its own characteristics, a research mindset and an evidence-based approach are common foundations for clinical practitioners.
“The award this time is truly very meaningful to me, but it is the award of yesterday. What I bring back is the motivation for tomorrow, so that young physicians like me can continue on the path of research and further strengthen our clinical practice,” Dr. Ha Quoc Hung shared. He also expressed his gratitude to the Hospital’s leadership, the leadership of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, and Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Khoi – Head of the Department of Science and Training – for their continuous support, guidance, and facilitation throughout the research process.
The achievements at the 2026 International Interhospital Scientific Conference not only recognize the efforts of the young presenters but also demonstrate UMC’s orientation toward professional development closely integrated with research activities. These results further affirm the Hospital’s role in training high-quality healthcare professionals while contributing to the promotion of evidence-based medicine and the sharing of professional expertise at domestic and international academic forums.
