Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital wins second prize in the “Non-Smoking Healthcare Facility” competition, first edition
On the morning of December 25, 2025, at the Vietnam‑Soviet Friendship Labor Culture Palace (Hanoi), Health and Life Newspaper in cooperation with the Foundation for Preventing the Harmful Effects of Tobacco solemnly organized the Award Ceremony of the “Smoke‑Free Healthcare Facility” Competition for the first time. The ceremony was broadcast live on the newspaper’s e‑paper and social media platforms.
The 1st “Smoke-Free Healthcare Facility” competition was organized to identify and honor exemplary models in building a safe, smoke-free medical examination and treatment environment. In doing so, the competition contributes to promoting effective implementation of the Tobacco Control Law within the healthcare system. The program attracted nearly 300 healthcare facilities nationwide.
Through a rigorous evaluation process across the Preliminary and Final rounds, combined with on-site surveys at the units, the judging panel selected and honored exemplary healthcare facilities with outstanding achievements in creating a smoke‑free medical environment.
Among them, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital excellently achieved the Second Prize of the competition. This result demonstrates the capacity to implement coordinated and effective solutions for building a smoke‑free hospital environment, from internal communication, regulation enforcement monitoring, to consulting and encouraging patients and healthcare staff not to smoke.
The result at the “Tobacco Smoke-Free Medical Facility” competition, first edition, is a landmark recognizing the persistent efforts of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, in the journey of building a safe and civilized medical environment, aiming for comprehensive and sustainable health care for patients and the community.
