Marking the 32-year journey: UMC Digital Ecosystem - The crystallization of intellect and dedication
On April 8, 2026, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC) organized the program "Imprint of the UMC Digital Ecosystem" with the theme "Dedication – Intellect – Breakthrough Technology," aiming toward the 32nd anniversary of the Hospital's founding (April 10, 1994 – April 10, 2026). The program was an occasion for the Hospital to look back at the journey of developing its digital ecosystem over the years, while also acknowledging the contributions of generations of leaders, experts, staff, and employees who have directly participated in building, operating, and developing the Hospital's digital platforms.
Attending the program were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc - Director of the Hospital; along with members of the Board of Directors; experts, leaders of departments, centers, and units, as well as a large number of staff and employees throughout the Hospital.
Speaking at the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc - Director of the Hospital, stated that the Hospital's digital ecosystem was formed from simple initial conditions and has developed persistently through multiple stages, becoming a comprehensive support foundation for professional activities, management, and patient care. In the coming period, the Hospital will continue to invest in data infrastructure, finalize and standardize digital solutions, gradually expand technology transfer, and promote the application of technology in personalized healthcare. The Director also expressed gratitude to generations of leaders, experts, and staff who have accompanied the Hospital throughout its 32 years of formation and development, affirming that today's achievements serve as a foundation for the Hospital to continue innovating, maintaining its pioneering role, and striving toward the goal of becoming a modern university hospital that leads in digital health transformation in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the program, the opening performance "Imprint of the UMC Digital Ecosystem" recreated the Hospital's digital transformation journey, ranging from core digital platforms in management and medical examination/treatment to applications serving patients, the community, and hospital administration. Following the flow of content, the button-pressing ritual to congratulate the UMC Digital Ecosystem was performed as a milestone recognizing the persistent development journey of digital platforms that have become an important part of all Hospital activities.
To date, the UMC digital ecosystem has formed solid pillars such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), UMC Care, UMC Health, UMC Home, and the Website. Among them, the Electronic Health Record system is evaluated by the Ministry of Health as the most complete and large-scale electronic health record model, serving as a reference standard for other hospitals to deploy. This is also the core platform helping to synchronize data, support professional and managerial work, and enhance patient experience.
Another important highlight was the honoring activity for the UMC Health Library Editorial Group, with the participation of 267 doctors, nurses, and medical staff. In just 5 months of implementation, the team built over 1,000 professional articles with support from AI Agents in content compilation. All content was strictly censored by the Hospital's Expert Council. Combining modern technology and solid expertise not only spreads official, standard medical knowledge to the community but also affirms UMC's commitment to taking knowledge as the foundation for sustainable healthcare.
Following the program was the award ceremony for the "Experiential Marketing Solutions Contest: From Understanding to Developing Medical Services." This activity demonstrated the role of the digital ecosystem in creating a platform for patient-oriented solutions, while encouraging staff and employees to proactively realize initiatives, elevate service quality and patient experience. Not stopping at the contest framework, the honored solutions will continue to be perfected, deployed, and applied in the practical operations of the Hospital.
The Imprint of the UMC Digital Ecosystem program closed with the message of an unceasingly innovative journey. Digital platforms and improvement solutions all aim at the goals of enhancing care quality, optimizing patient experience, and developing the Hospital according to a modern, smart, and humanistic model. From the established foundation, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City continues to create new values, contributing to affirming the pioneering position of Vietnam's university hospital system in the digital health era.
