Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan visits and wishes New Year to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Binh Ngo spring 2026
On 02/02/2026, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health delegation led by Minister Dao Hong Lan – Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Health as Head of the delegation, visited, worked and wished the hospital staff and workers a New Year on the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.

The delegation included Mr. Doan Huu Thien – Chief of Office of the Ministry of Health, together with leaders of the Departments and Bureaus under the Ministry of Health. Representing the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, were Professor Dr. Tran Diep Tuan – Party Secretary of the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat – President of the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City together with faculty members of the Board of Directors and leaders of the university's departments; Associate Professor Dr. Vo Tan Son – Former President of the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City. Receiving the delegation, from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City were Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac – Party Secretary, Director of the Hospital together with Deputy Directors and leaders of the departments, centers, faculties, units.
During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac - Director of the Hospital reported a summary of the 2025 operational results and the preparations for serving the 2026 Lunar New Year. The report emphasized the Hospital's role in the university hospital model, both carrying out a large volume of medical examinations and treatments with high professional intensity, and fulfilling the training and scientific research functions well. Over the past year, the Hospital continued to leverage its deep expertise, regularly implementing many complex specialized techniques that require multidisciplinary coordination and solid professional capabilities of the medical team, with organ transplantation identified as one of the key specialized fields.

In addition to treatment and training responsibilities, the Hospital continues to expand scientific research activities and international cooperation in depth, linked to improving the quality of human resources and disseminating medical knowledge. Digital transformation work is being implemented in a coordinated roadmap, focusing on electronic medical records, standardizing medical data, improving the examination and treatment process, and enhancing patient experience; thereby strengthening the connection between the Hospital, the public, and the community.
Regarding the preparation work for the Lunar New Year, the Hospital has developed comprehensive plans to ensure emergency care, medical treatment, and 24/24 hour on‑call service; proactively preparing medicines, supplies, equipment, technical logistics and the information technology system; while also caring for the livelihood of staff, workers and supporting patients during the holiday.
Speaking and giving directions at the meeting, Health Minister Dao Hong Lan highly praised the performance results of the School and the Hospital, recognizing the effort to effectively implement the School‑Institute model, linking medical treatment with training and scientific research. The Minister emphasized the role of health not only in ensuring social security and people's health care, but also as a sector with potential to become a leading economy, contributing to attracting international resources.
On this occasion, marking the commemoration of Vietnam Doctors' Day on February 27, the Health Minister sends congratulations to the doctors, staff, and workers of the School and the Hospital; also expressing the expectation that the medical team will continue to uphold medical ethics, a sense of responsibility and dedication to patients, continuously learning and innovating to meet the increasingly high demands in the work of caring for, protecting and improving the health of the people.
