Returning to the Minh Dam Historical Site: Fostering the Ideals and Sense of Responsibility of Party Members

On July 25 and 26, 2026, in commemoration of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day on July 27, Clinical Party Cell 5, in coordination with Clinical Party Cell 2 of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC), organized a thematic educational program and field study at the Minh Dam Historical Site. With the participation of 35 Party members, outstanding individuals eligible for Party membership, and staff from various professional units of the Hospital, the program contributed to fostering traditional values, enhancing political awareness, and strengthening solidarity between the two Party Cells.

The Minh Dam Historical Site is closely associated with the struggle of the armed forces and people of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province during the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism. In the solemn atmosphere of this historically significant site, the delegation offered flowers and paid tribute to fallen heroes and martyrs, learned about revolutionary historical landmarks, and participated in field-study activities. Combining thematic educational activities with a journey of returning to the roots helped make historical lessons more vivid and tangible, thereby fostering pride and a sense of responsibility among each staff member and Party member in both their professional duties and daily lives.

Speaking at the program, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Dinh, Party Committee Member of the Sub-Party Committee, Secretary of Clinical Party Cell 5, and Deputy Director of UMC, emphasized that the journey to the Minh Dam Historical Site was not only an opportunity to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and freedom, but also an opportunity for each staff member and Party member to gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities in fulfilling their duties. The values gained from the field experience should be translated into exemplary conduct, dedication, and continuous effort in every professional position. For healthcare professionals, this is reflected in professional ethics, solidarity, and a strong sense of responsibility in caring for the people’s health.

A meaningful highlight of the program was the Party membership admission ceremony for outstanding individual Nguyen Thi Thuy Nhung. Held at a site rich in revolutionary traditions, the ceremony marked an important milestone in the new Party member’s personal development and commitment, while also serving as a reminder of the responsibility to uphold the political integrity and ideals of a Party member. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Dinh expressed his hope that the new Party member would continue to study, cultivate herself, fulfill her assigned duties well, and live up to the trust placed in her by the Party organization and colleagues.

The journey to the Minh Dam Historical Site provided an opportunity for Party members and outstanding individuals from Clinical Party Cell 2 and Clinical Party Cell 5 to revisit historical milestones, strengthen interaction, and consolidate solidarity. The experiences gained from the journey serve as a source of motivation for each staff member and Party member to continue self-improvement, enhance the quality of their work, and fulfill their responsibility to serve patients, contributing to building a strong and transparent Party organization and the sustainable development of UMC.
