Touching pride: From passionate strokes to a symbol of trust
32 years - an enduring journey of knowledge, dedication, and noble humanistic values. Mentioning University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC), perhaps the first thing that comes to every person's mind is its characteristic Blue color. Not ostentatious, not brilliant, but that blue is gentle enough to soothe pain, sturdy enough to sow seeds of hope, and create reassurance right from the first steps of patients coming to the Hospital.
Going back in time to the early days of its establishment, the UMC brand identity carries a deeply emotional story. The logo with four characters D - H - Y - D originated from the simple hand-drawn strokes of People's Teacher, Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Đình Hối - Former Rector of University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City, and the first Director of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City. From those passionate strokes, a solid foundation of values was laid, so that for over three decades, generations of UMC physicians have together continued and nurtured it with knowledge, medical ethics, and noble professional ideals.
Over time, the brand image is not only limited to tangible symbols but is also a story nurtured from the pride of each staff member and employee. For the UMC team, the blue color is present in the professional working environment, in every dedicated professional activity, and in the responsibility of preserving the trust entrusted by patients. They are the ones who directly create standards and spread brand value every day.
Toward the 32nd anniversary of the Hospital's founding (April 10, 1994 – April 10, 2026), the photo series "Touching Pride," produced by the Communication Center, serves as a special gift sent to the common roof of UMC along with a message of enduring connection and congratulations on UMC's meaningful 32-year milestone - where we together continue to write new chapters on the journey of medical ethics and serving the people.
