Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital receives Vietnam Medical Achievement Award 2020

On February 26, 2021, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital was honored at the Vietnam Medical Achievement Awards 2020 ceremony for its achievement in minimally invasive endoscopic heart surgery. This award aims to recognize the contributions to public health made by medical professionals nationwide, organized jointly by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Radio and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital began implementing minimally invasive endoscopic heart surgery since 2014, being the first hospital in the Southern region to adopt this method. To date, the Hospital has performed over 700 cases with a very high success rate, up to 99%.

With this method, patients lose less blood, experience less postoperative pain, have a reduced risk of infection, the recovery time is shortened, and patients can return to normal activities sooner. Especially, the surgical scar is smaller and highly aesthetic.

The Vietnam Medical Achievement Award in the field of minimally invasive endoscopic heart surgery is evidence of the Hospital's effort in implementing complex and specialized techniques, aiming at the principle “minimal intervention, maximum treatment” for patients. This also serves as motivation for the Hospital's medical staff to further strive in applying advanced techniques in general and developing the field of endoscopic surgery in particular, providing increasingly effective treatment and safety for patients.
