Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital shares experience in improving healthcare quality at the 5th National Hospital Quality Forum
On 19/12/2023, in Hanoi, the 5th National Hospital Quality Forum was held, along with the 70th anniversary celebration of the establishment of Vietnam's healthcare system, the 15th anniversary of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, and received a commendation from the Prime Minister.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc presented a paper on “Digital transformation, applying information technology to improve the quality of medical services at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital”, attracting great interest from colleagues nationwide.
Within the framework of the National Hospital Quality Forum, representatives of leading hospitals shared hospital management experiences, effective solutions for improving hospital quality, creating an environment for exchange and learning among hospitals nationwide.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital achieved the title of Hospital with exemplary report and First Prize in the National Poster Competition “Hospital Quality Improvement Project”
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac shared that Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital has established a system and organized quality management personnel according to a matrix structure with a Quality Management Department, Quality Management Council, Patient Safety Subcommittee, and Quality Management Network. The quality management system has been standardized by ISO 9001:2015 and applies the international JCI standard.
In addition, the Hospital has always been a pioneer in digital transformation, using information technology as the foundation for ensuring, controlling, and improving quality, with notable achievements such as: building and developing a complete electronic medical record; implementing treatment quality monitoring, implementing Hospital regulations on software; developing AI in diagnostics; pioneering the Early Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) care program; leading the application of a coded electronic clinical terminology set – SNOMED CT; Nursing Electronic Medical Record, the UMC Care app for patients, the UMC Home app for staff…
Also at the Forum, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City Hospital achieved the title of Hospital with a model report and First Prize in the National Poster Competition “Hospital Quality Improvement Project”. These titles recognize the efforts to achieve the goal of putting patients at the center, improving quality, applying information technology in medical examination and treatment work of the Hospital, contributing to the improvement of medical examination and treatment quality, and the health care of the people.
In the coming period, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City Hospital will continue to intensify research and apply information technology to ensure patient safety, improve health care quality, enhance diagnostic, treatment, care, rehabilitation, health education capabilities, and elevate the experience for patients and their families when visiting and receiving treatment at the Hospital.
