Launch of the professional publication: “Handbook for Setting Goals and Evaluating Outcomes in Nursing Interventions”

Care and treatment are the two most essential duties of the medical field in protecting public health. While doctors are the ones who diagnose and prescribe treatment, nurses are the companions who implement care plans, supporting patients' physical and mental well‑being at every moment. They work quietly yet indispensably, serving as the link between modern medicine and humanity in each recovery journey.

In celebration of International Nurses Day on May 15, 2025, the University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD) held a commemorative ceremony in Hall 3A. During the program, the hospital honored groups and individuals who have made significant contributions to patient care, quality improvement, and professional development, while also listening to inspiring stories from those who work day and night alongside doctors on the journey of bringing health and confidence to the community.

The highlight of the series of activities commemorating the photo contest “Nursing in the Future – Dreams Within Reach”, captures beautiful, authentic, and emotionally rich moments in the journey of work: from clinical care, training, research to community activities. These photographs not only demonstrate the dedication and professionalism of the nursing team, but also reflect the aspiration to advance, master knowledge, and be ready to integrate with the international medical community. The exemplary works are displayed in the exhibition space during the ceremony. The outstanding photo that won first prize is titled “Where the Smile Begins from a Loving Embrace” from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

On this occasion, the Hospital officially launched a professional publication: “Handbook for Setting Goals and Evaluating Outcomes in Nursing Interventions”. This is a research result from hospital care practice, aiming to standardize processes, improve intervention effectiveness, and develop the independent – proactive role of nurses within the multidisciplinary treatment system. In 2025, the nursing staff of ĐHYD Hospital received JCI certification for the program “Prevention of Infection Risk and Medication Errors in Intravenous Therapy (PRIME)”. Nearly 1,000 nurses, pharmacists, and infection control staff have been trained, almost fully meeting the JCI Organization's requirements, with nearly 200 core trainers receiving the PRIME Champions certification.

Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Dinh – Deputy Director of DHYD Hospital recognized and highly praised the great contributions of the nursing team over more than 31 years of the Hospital's development, with outstanding achievements such as building a standardized nursing system, obtaining the international JCI Prime certification, as well as publishing valuable professional books on nursing practice. The hospital also commits to continue strong investment in professional development, enhancing foreign language capabilities, new technology, and creating conditions for nurses to develop their careers, while establishing awards and scholarships to honor and promote the sustainable development of nursing.

Sharing at the event, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh – Head of the Hospital Nursing Department emphasized: “We do not only care for patients, we walk alongside them in every sleep, pain, and hope. We dream of a future where nursing is developed appropriately, worthy of its central role in modern healthcare.” In the context of a rapidly transforming healthcare sector, as technology advances daily, it is the dedication, patience, and love of nurses that remain irreplaceable. “Nursing in the Future – A Dream Within Reach” is an affirmation of the strategic role and the aspiration to advance a noble profession, a caregiving profession that soothes pain, helping the community be healthy and happy.
