The work “Collection of Outstanding Clinical Case Reports” compiled by the University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD) has just been awarded the B Prize of the 8th National Book Award, one of the prestigious national awards aimed at honoring publications with outstanding value in content, scholarship, and contributions to the development of social knowledge.

This year, the National Book Award Council has granted a total of 50 awards, including 2 A prizes, 17 B prizes, 24 C prizes, 4 Encouragement prizes, and 5 “Readers' Favorite Book” awards. The recognition of a medical specialty work at this award demonstrates the contributions of the medical field to the development of scientific knowledge and the dissemination of professional expertise from clinical practice.

The work “Collection of Outstanding Clinical Case Reports” by Associate Professor PhD MD Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc – Director of the Hospital and Professor PhD MD Trương Quang Bình – Chairman of the Hospital Scientific Council, Editor-in-Chief; Associate Professor PhD MD Lê Minh Khôi – Head of the Science and Training Department as Chief Editor, together with the participation of many experts at ĐHYD Hospital. The project was highly valued by the Awards Council for its professional value, practicality, and applicability in training, research, and clinical practice.
The book compiles 58 exemplary clinical case reports, selected from real-world patient care at ĐHYD Hospital. The cases are analyzed from the approach, diagnosis to treatment, thereby helping doctors and medical students better understand clinical reasoning when handling complex pathological situations in practice.

According to Associate Professor PhD MD Lê Minh Khôi, the idea for the book originated from academic activities and professional meetings at the Hospital, where doctors regularly discuss and analyze difficult cases to extract lessons learned in diagnosis and treatment. From that experience, the editorial board systematized representative cases to create a valuable reference document for the medical community.
The work being honored at the National Book Awards is not only a recognition of the research and compilation efforts of the medical staff and experts at BV ĐHYD, but also contributes to affirming the role of the university hospital in tightly linking treatment – training – scientific research, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnamese medicine.
