Guide to Health Insurance Settlement on UMC Care
1. Guide to Health Insurance Settlement on UMC Care
To help patients reduce waiting time and take a more active role in their healthcare journey, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City continues to offer the health insurance settlement feature directly on the UMC Care app.
In addition to confirming health insurance information when booking an appointment through UMC Care, patients can now complete their health insurance settlement online after finishing their consultation and receiving a prescription.
With this feature, patients can review medical expenses, confirm their health insurance coverage, and pay any remaining balance directly through the app. Once the settlement is successfully completed, patients can proceed directly to the Pharmacy to collect their medications without having to queue at the insurance settlement counter.
1.1. Steps to Complete Health Insurance Settlement on UMC Care
Step 1: Log in to the UMC Care app, select “Hospital Fee Payment”, choose the patient profile, then select “Health Insurance Payment.”
Note: The payment button will only become active after all consulted specialties have completed the prescription process.
Step 2: Review the consultation fees, medical service charges, and medication costs, then select “Health Insurance Settlement.”
Step 3: The system will automatically verify eligibility, calculate the health insurance coverage amount, and determine the amount the patient needs to pay.
Select “I have reviewed and agree”, then choose “Confirm Payment.”
Step 4: The patient or authorized representative signs electronically directly on the phone screen.
Step 5: Complete the payment or refund process according to the instructions displayed on the app.
Step 6: After the transaction is confirmed by the accounting staff, the “Health Insurance Payment” screen will appear on UMC Care. Select “View Result” to receive confirmation that the health insurance settlement has been completed. A detailed statement can also be viewed on this screen.
Step 7: Track the payment status under:
Payment History → Progress → Payment Progress
Step 8: Proceed to the Pharmacy as instructed in the notification. Present the QR code or the electronic prescription on the app for Pharmacy staff to scan and dispense the medications.
In addition to this feature, UMC Care offers many other services to support patients throughout their healthcare journey, including hospital fee payment, electronic prescriptions, notifications for laboratory and diagnostic results, medication pickup notifications, health record management, medical history storage, medication reminders, and more.
