Joining hands to revive a small heart

Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Định – Deputy Director of BV ĐHYD shared: “Heart transplantation in children is a complex technique, requiring extensive interdisciplinary coordination and substantial resources. The success of this heart transplant case is the result of close collaboration between the two hospitals, the dedication of the medical team, and especially the support of the community and philanthropists.”

Sharing at the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung – Director of Children’s Hospital No.1 affirmed: “Heart transplantation is the only living opportunity for children with end-stage heart failure. Over many years, the two hospitals have cooperated extensively in the field of cardiology. With this transplant case, besides professional coordination, we also mobilize social resources to support treatment costs for the family.”

At the event, Children’s Hospital No.1 donated the first installment of 300 million VND to the patient’s family, with funds raised from the community to support treatment costs. At the same time, a representative of Apollo Silicone Group donated an additional 300 million VND, helping baby N.T.P have better care conditions after the transplant.
According to MSc. Trần Văn Hùng - Head of Social Work Department at ĐHYD Hospital emphasized: “This is not just a fundraising activity, but also a milestone affirming the hospital's responsibility to connect and share with the community. Contributions from society further motivate us to continue our mission of saving lives.”

According to previous information, pediatric patient N.T.P with dilated cardiomyopathy was transferred from Children’s Hospital No. 1 to the University Medical University Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for a heart transplant. This is the second pediatric heart transplant case carried out jointly by the two hospitals. After the surgery, the child recovered well and could be discharged this week if the indicators remain stable.
