On February 24, 2025, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD - UMC) solemnly organized the 70th anniversary ceremony of Vietnamese Doctor's Day with the theme “Extraordinary Efforts for Ordinary Things”. The program was an occasion to honor generations of doctors who have dedicated themselves to saving lives; also to listen to moving stories from patients who have placed their full trust in the Hospital as a place to care for the health of themselves and their families.

The program opened with a moving skit “Extraordinary Efforts for Ordinary Things” that realistically reenacted the silent sacrifices of doctors. These were sleepless night shifts, prolonged stressful surgeries, life‑and‑death moments decided in an instant – all stemming from responsibility and love for the profession, to restore life to patients. The images of white‑cloaked angels always beside patients, diligently caring and accompanying them, touched the hearts of all attendees. The piece was not only a tribute to silent sacrifices, but also a celebration of the noble mission each doctor and healthcare worker has chosen to commit to for life.

Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Ngô Quốc Đạt - President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said: “As a model practice hospital of the university, BV ĐHYD has been pioneering in many fields, especially quality management and digital transformation. The doctors and teachers always uphold the spirit “Lương y như từ mẫu”, caring, understanding and accompanying patients, worthy of the trust that President Ho Chi Minh placed in Vietnam’s health sector 70 years ago. The university community will continue to leverage its strengths, unite, continuously train, contributing to the development of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, BV ĐHYD and the national health system.”

This is an important step forward in the journey of improving the quality of care and patient safety according to the practice standards of the International Joint Commission on Patient Safety (JCI organization).

On this occasion, the Hospital honors and congratulates the Excellent Doctors, outstanding teams and individuals who have received commendations from the Prime Minister, the title of National-level Emulation Fighter, commendations from the Minister of Health, the Medal for the People's Health, and commendations from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. These honors are a deserved recognition of their relentless contributions, and a strong motivation for each doctor and healthcare staff to continue dedicating themselves, bringing valuable benefits to the community.

The celebration of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day concluded with pride and deep emotions. The silent contributions were honored with the prestigious title of Labor Hero and recognition from reputable health organizations, becoming a source of pride for UMC and the Vietnamese health sector. At UMC, each achievement is not only the culmination of knowledge and technology, but also a symbol of pioneering spirit and courage – values that create a united collective, ready to overcome any challenges to continue the mission of caring for the people's health.
