Honoring the Beauty of UMC
On the morning of October 20, 2025, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City (UMC) organized a meeting to celebrate Vietnamese Women's Day on October 20. This is a special occasion to express gratitude and honor the important contributions of female staff and workers in the hospital's building and development journey.
Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Định – Deputy Director of the University Medical Center, sent congratulations and expressed appreciation to all female staff and workers: “Every day working at the Hospital, I clearly feel the steadfast dedication of the women, from professional to administrative tasks. It is this gentle yet resilient spirit that creates UMC’s unique identity. Female personnel account for nearly two thirds of the total workforce, serving as a crucial foundation that enables the Hospital’s development today.”
At the same time, MSc. Đặng Anh Long – Chairman of the UMC Department Union, shared pride about the “silent warriors”: “Women always carry a special vocation, simultaneously handling professional duties and nurturing the family. It is the dedication, perseverance, and responsibility of the women that have played an important role in building the Hospital’s reputation and value. I hope today's wishes will be a source of encouragement for the women to continue spreading that spirit.”
Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Võ Tấn Sơn – Former President of the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, former Hospital Director, was moved as he looked back on the journey of building the University Medical Center from its early difficult days. “From the first bricks, the women have together nurtured and contributed not only physical effort but also passion
to form the departments, wards, and units. Many tasks were carried out quietly, but those very efforts have helped the Hospital develop steadily to this day. I sincerely thank the generations of women who have accompanied the Hospital.”
Sharing during the exchange session, Professor Dr. Trương Quang Bình – Chairman of the Hospital Scientific Council, offered a special perspective on the beauty of women in medicine.
