Improving Clinical Quality – Towards Effective Healthcare Services

On the afternoon of March 20, at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD), a training session on the topic "Building Clinical Quality Standards, Promoting Treatment Quality and Patient Care" was held with the participation of more than 100 healthcare staff.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Định – Deputy Director of BV ĐHYD emphasized the importance of developing and applying clinical quality standards in medical practice, "In daily practice, each disease and each treatment procedure needs quality and effectiveness evaluation criteria. Worldwide, many major medical associations have developed sets of criteria to measure and improve treatment quality. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health is also gradually standardizing and developing clinical criteria suitable for reality. The training conducted today is an important step to apply these criteria in practice, aiming to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment across the entire system.".

Dr. Dương Huy Lương – Deputy Director of the Department of Clinical Management presented in detail the methods of establishing clinical quality standards in the context of Vietnam's healthcare system, while also sharing experience and implementation strategies suitable for reality. The training content helped the medical staff gain an overview of trends and methods for evaluating professional outcomes, thereby enabling them to plan improvements, enhance treatment quality, and ensure patient safety.

The training session not only helped consolidate knowledge about quality improvement concepts but also encouraged the proactiveness and creativity of the medical staff in the work of enhancing the quality of medical examination and treatment services, aiming for the goal of "putting patients at the center".
