On April 17 and 18, 2025, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD) organized a health examination and care program for heroic Vietnamese mothers and individuals who contributed to the Revolution in many districts of the city. This is one of the hospital's annual gratitude activities, carried out this year to coincide with the nationwide commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
During the trip, the hospital's doctors and medical staff visited, examined patients, measured blood pressure, checked blood glucose levels, provided medication, and coordinated with families to offer treatment advice and appropriate care guidance for the mothers.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Thi Bich Ha – Deputy Head of the Geriatrics – Palliative Care Department at ĐHYD Hospital said that directly examining and listening to the everyday stories of the mothers was a memorable experience for her. The story about a heroic Vietnamese mother with seven children, who lost her husband and son in the war, moved the entire group. “I understand the value of the silent sacrifices that the mothers have made for the country, and I feel fortunate to live in peace, with abundance; every effort at work now feels more meaningful.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Thi Bich Ha shared.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Qui – Gastroenterology Department also expressed his emotion: “This trip allowed me to look back at history and gain a deeper understanding of the losses that the mothers have endured. The image of a mother working late into the night to raise her children, even while bearing the pain of losing her husband and child, is truly resilient and full of love. Those stories make us see that the journey to help patients return to health with their families is even more meaningful.”
The program is one of the meaningful activities that reflects the spirit of gratitude of the BV ĐHYD medical staff towards the generation that has sacrificed family happiness, dedicating themselves fully for national independence. Each meeting, care, and concern for the mothers not only shows gratitude but also provides an opportunity for the younger generation of doctors to be further motivated and more attached to the mission of caring for community health.
