University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City and Sun Hospital Phu Quoc Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement to Enhance On-Site Treatment Capacity

On the afternoon of September 8, 2026, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC HCMC) and Sun Hospital Phu Quoc, a member of the Sun Group healthcare system, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic cooperation, aiming to strengthen professional networking, training, technology transfer, and scientific research.
The signing ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc, Director of UMC HCMC, along with leaders from various departments, centers, and clinical units. Representing Sun Group were Dr. Nguyễn Quang Thắng, Deputy Director of the Healthcare Division and Director of Sun Hospital Phu Quoc, alongside other hospital leadership.

Representing Sun Hospital Phu Quoc, Dr. Nguyễn Quang Thắng, Deputy Director of the Healthcare Division and Director of Sun Hospital Phu Quoc, shares his expectations for the swift implementation of the cooperative initiatives.According to the MoU, the two institutions agreed to collaborate across three core pillars: professional support through clinical consultations, telemedicine, and the coordinated management of critical or complex cases; human resource training, professional development, and technology transfer; and the promotion of joint scientific research, specialized seminars, and clinical practice exchanges.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Bắc emphasized that leveraging the university hospital model allows UMC HCMC to excel in medical education, technical transfer, hospital governance, and workforce development. He noted that elevating the capabilities of any healthcare facility requires a synchronized approach spanning physicians, nurses, pharmacists, medical technicians, quality management, patient safety, and operational administration.
