Anesthesia - Intensive Care

Job Description

  • Implement hospital policies, with particular attention to the external department regulations, surgery-anesthesia and intensive care department regulations, and infection control department regulations.
  • Pre-anesthesia examination
  • Receive patients scheduled for surgery into the operating room and perform anesthesia.
  • Administer anesthesia as prescribed
  • Examine patients before anesthesia according to assessment procedures and develop an anesthesia plan for the patient
  • Request the surgeon to temporarily postpone surgery or procedures when the patient does not meet safety conditions, and record this in the medical record. If agreement cannot be reached with the surgeon, report to the Head of Department for resolution
  • Explain anesthesia methods to the patient, provide guidance and counseling to the patient and family regarding preparations and fulfill pre-anesthesia requirements
  • For scheduled surgeries: the anesthesia and intensive care physician must re-examine the patient scheduled for surgery one day prior to prepare for the operation as per regulations.
  • For emergency surgeries: the anesthesia and intensive care physician must directly examine the patient and coordinate with the surgeon to fully prepare for the operation.
  • In the operating room
  • Organize and take responsibility for anesthesia and recovery procedures as assigned by the Head of Department
  • In cases exceeding professional capacity or when complications occur, promptly report to the Head of Department
  • Prompt, inspect, and remind doctors, nurses, and staff present in the operating room to comply with infection control regulations
  • Check the patient and anesthesia-intensive care medical records before and after surgery
  • Closely cooperate with other departments and personnel performing related surgeries and procedures.
  • Implement surgical plans, monitor and care for patients before, during, and after surgery
  • Assign supervision of professional activities of anesthesia technicians
  • Re-verify the patient's medical record regarding name, age, and surgical site
  • Inspect preparation of drugs, oxygen, and other equipment for anesthesia by technicians.
  • Perform difficult techniques such as central venous catheterization, regional anesthesia, and intubation in difficult airway cases.
  • Inspect before blood and blood product transfusion
  • Monitor the patient's health status to intervene when abnormal events occur, ensuring anesthesia and intensive care safety for the surgery.
  • In severe cases with risk of death, the anesthesia and intensive care physician must provide active resuscitation, seek the Head of Department's opinion, and continue emergency care until stabilization before transferring to the recovery room.
  • Recovery
  • Receive and assess the condition of transferred patients with appropriate indications
  • Perform techniques and methods of pain control for patients
  • Monitor, detect, and manage complications and abnormalities in patients until vital signs are stable
  • Direct nursing care to implement treatment orders and patient care
  • Determine if the patient meets criteria to decide on department transfer
  • Collaborate with other physicians to manage severely ill patients requiring intensive care in the recovery area.
  • Surgical Intensive Care
  • Coordinate with other departments to decide on patient admission and transfer
  • Monitor, diagnose, treat, and perform specialized procedures as regulated
  • Report and seek the Head of Department's opinion in special cases, convene consultations for appropriate decisions
  • Hand over patients and treatment orders for each shift.
  • Pain Management
  • Examine and counsel patients on pain management before and after surgery
  • Inform and explain to patients or their families about the techniques and methods to be performed
  • Organize implementation of pain control measures
  • Monitor implementation results
  • Monitor and manage complications and adverse effects of pain management methods

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree; preference given to resident physicians, Level I specialists, or Master's in Anesthesia and Intensive Care
  • Professional practice certificate
  • Physicians with over 3 years of relevant specialist experience or work at Level 1 hospitals.
  • English proficiency: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 65, TOEIC (Reading & Listening: 650, Writing: level 5, Speaking: level 6).
  • Proficient in office computer applications.
  • Good communication skills.
