Vision of International Cooperation

In the context of integration and globalization, expanding international cooperation with reputable university and institutional partners in the region and worldwide has become an inevitable direction for all healthcare facilities in Vietnam.

For a leading teaching hospital such as the University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City, strengthening international collaboration—particularly in professional exchange, technology transfer, and training cooperation—is highly prioritized and constitutes one of the hospital’s core functions.

Outstanding International Cooperation Activities

The Hospital continuously promotes the expansion and strengthening of its cooperative relationships with international partners. Since 2020, the Hospital has signed 42 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with international universities, institutions, and organizations, and has sent 375 staff members abroad for training to acquire the latest knowledge and techniques in diagnosis and treatment. The University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City has established strong partnerships with collaborators in South Korea, Taiwan (China), Thailand, Japan, France, Italy, the United States, and others.

In addition to sending staff for overseas training, the University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City has also actively received international trainees for internships at the Hospital. Since 2020, the Hospital has welcomed 518 international trainees specializing in fields such as gastrointestinal endoscopic surgery, neurosurgery, gastroenterology and hepatobiliary medicine, emergency medicine, cardiovascular surgery, and other advanced specialties.

The development and enhancement of professional expertise at the Hospital are also continuously prioritized. Since 2020, the Hospital has hosted 95 international experts from universities, institutions, and organizations for professional exchanges in areas such as liver transplantation, interventional cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, neurology, and other advanced specialties.

In 2025, the Hospital plans to continue sending staff abroad for training while further expanding professional exchange activities and online consultations in key specialties such as minimally invasive surgery, vascular interventions, organ transplantation, and oncology. At the same time, it aims to enhance the capacity of its nursing and technical staff, reinforcing its position as a leading university hospital in Vietnam.
