Continuing medical education update week 2026: Sharing knowledge, strengthening professional connections
Entering its 11th year, the Continuing medical education update week continues to be one of the key annual training activities of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC).
Held from July 31 to August 8, 2026 in a hybrid format combining in-person and online participation, the program featured 45 thematic sessions with more than 270 scientific presentations, attracting approximately 12,000 registrations. Of these, around 2,500 were for in-person attendance and approximately 9,500 were for online participation, reflecting the growing interest of healthcare professionals in continuing education and professional development.
Speaking about the event, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hoang Bac, PhD, MD – Director of University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City (UMC) emphasized that, as medicine continues to evolve rapidly under the influence of science and technology, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine, healthcare professionals need to proactively learn, adapt, and innovate in order to meet increasingly demanding healthcare needs. With this in mind, the program was designed to provide practical and applicable content, helping healthcare professionals stay up to date with new advances and apply them in their daily work, thereby contributing to the development of a highly qualified healthcare workforce.
The 2026 program covered a broad range of topics, from clinical practice, advanced medical techniques, and patient care to scientific research, hospital governance, and digital transformation in healthcare. In addition to advances in diagnosis and treatment, the program also addressed process improvement, quality management, patient safety, and operational efficiency. This multidisciplinary approach enabled participants to select topics relevant to their professional roles while gaining a broader understanding of how specialized knowledge can be applied in the practical context of healthcare facilities.
According to Assoc. Prof. Le Minh Khoi, PhD, MD – Head of the Department of Science and Training at UMC, combining in-person and online formats made it easier for healthcare professionals both within and outside Ho Chi Minh City to participate, select relevant topics, and engage directly with experts. The growing number of participants each year not only reflects the strong demand for continuing medical education, but also motivates UMC to continuously improve program content, delivery methods, and accessibility.
After 11 editions, the value of the Continuing medical education update week is reflected not only in the number of topics, presentations, or participants, but also in its ability to bring new knowledge closer to everyday professional practice. By maintaining this annual academic forum, UMC continues to strengthen its role in education, research, and knowledge sharing, contributing to the development of healthcare professionals and supporting more comprehensive healthcare for patients and the community.
