On October 17-18, 2025, the University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD) in collaboration with the Vietnam Society of Gender Medicine (VSSM) and the Global Andrology Organization (GAF) organized the 2025 National Scientific Conference, which included an international scientific session titled “Masterclass of International Training in Male Reproductive Health and Sexuality”. The conference attracted more than 500 domestic and international delegates, becoming one of the largest academic forums in Southeast Asia in 2025 in the fields of Andrology – Gender Medicine and related specialties.

As the President of VSSM, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang – President of the Vietnam Society of Gender Medicine shared: “This year's conference is not only an academic forum but also a significant step in the strategic development of Andrology and Gender Medicine in Vietnam. From a professional perspective, we acknowledge remarkable advances in the diagnosis and treatment of reproductive, endocrine, male and female sexual disorders, contributing to improved quality of life for patients. From a management perspective, collaboration between specialty societies and major medical institutions such as BV ĐHYD has created a sustainable academic network, facilitating knowledge dissemination, practice standardization, and promoting scientific research aligned with international standards. I believe the outcomes of this conference will lay the foundation for training programs, cooperation, and technology transfer in the future.”
Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Anh – Deputy Director of BV ĐHYD said: “Modern medicine aims to help patients live healthy, fully both physically and mentally. With the Urology – Andrology specialty, BV ĐHYD has been strongly developing in an interdisciplinary collaborative manner to provide the most comprehensive and effective service for patients.”
From this orientation, the conference opened many in‑depth discussion sessions focusing on two major topics: advances in the diagnosis and treatment of male infertility, and new updates in the management of male and female sexual dysfunction. Experts presented many medical breakthroughs, from WHO’s new guidelines on semen examination, sperm DNA testing, genetic testing to micro‑surgical sperm retrieval techniques in non‑obstructive azoospermia. In addition, treatment solutions for erectile dysfunction with PDE5i drugs, PRP therapy, LiSWT shockwave, as well as comprehensive strategies for premature ejaculation and Peyronie’s disease were discussed.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Thai – Andrology Unit, Urology Department, BV ĐHYD shared typical cases in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and male infertility, demonstrating clear effectiveness when patients access modern treatment protocols, significantly improving quality of life. Additionally, Assistant Professor Dr. Nguyen Huynh Dang Khoa – Lecturer of the Urology Department, Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City presented issues related to mental health and depression among the LGBT population, showing extensive concern and comprehensive care for the transgender community.
A typical example in male infertility treatment involves patient G., a 27‑year‑old married for two years without children, who visited BV ĐHYD and was diagnosed with grade 3 left and grade 2 right varicocele, a common cause of male infertility. After counseling by urology specialists, he was scheduled for bilateral varicocele microsurgical ligation. The surgery proceeded smoothly with the support of modern microsurgical systems. Six months later, semen analysis showed a marked improvement with sperm density doubling and motility reaching normal levels. Seven months post‑surgery, his wife conceived naturally. “The moment I learned my wife was pregnant was the greatest happiness of my life,” G. said emotionally.
The conference emphasized that reproductive and sexual health must be regarded as an indispensable part of comprehensive health care. The active participation of international experts and the contribution of BV ĐHYD created a valuable scientific forum, helping to promote the development of Andrology – Gender Medicine in Vietnam.
