Medical experts collaborate to build the UMC Health Media Library so the community understands correctly and provides proper health care
In the context where citizens are increasingly proactive in seeking health information but face many inaccurate sources, building a standard medical knowledge system has become more essential than ever. With the mission of disseminating official medical knowledge to the community, on 28/10/2025, the University Medical Center Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (UMC) organized the launch ceremony of the Health Media Library Editorial Team and initiated the AI Agent application in compiling health education content.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac – Hospital Director's vision: “The UMC Health Media Library is a digital knowledge heritage shaped by the expertise, experience, and dedication of the medical team, aiming to build a standard, transparent, and accessible medical knowledge platform, helping citizens understand correctly to care correctly, thereby increasing trust in the Hospital and in Vietnamese medicine.”
Implementing the Director's vision, Associate Professor Dr. Le Khac Bao – Deputy Hospital Director said the project aims at three core objectives: becoming a reliable and easy-to-understand medical information source for the community; affirming UMC's professional reputation and academic value; and contributing to the formation of an official medical communication platform in Vietnam. This is a medical knowledge management model that brings professional understanding closer to the community, so that citizens are not only treated when needed but also proactively care for their health through knowledge.
With its position as a specialized multi-disciplinary hospital, and also a training – research – treatment institution under the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Ho Chi Minh City, UMC brings together a team of physicians – educators – researchers in most fields of modern medicine, creating a rich knowledge base to build a Health Media Library that is systematic, scientific, and humane.
Dr. Lê Quan Anh Tuấn – Deputy Head of the Comprehensive Planning Department, Head of the Editorial Team said: “An ideal academic health communication library needs to meet four criteria: accuracy and scientific rigor, academic presentation, easy-to-understand and effective communication, and integration of digital technology in content compilation and management. We are aiming at two clear objectives: health education communication for the public, providing correct and accessible knowledge; and medical communication for patients and their families, with individualized information, supporting patients to understand and care for their health according to doctors’ instructions.”
Looking back at the health education communication journey of ĐHYD Hospital, Prof. Dr. Trương Quang Bình - Chairman of the Scientific Council shared: “From the ‘Living Healthy’ publications that have been maintained for many years and still hold value today, the hospital’s health education communication work has continuously developed, expanding strongly on official digital platforms. The 2024 Key Medical Opinion Leaders training series is an important preparation step, helping medical staff confidently share medical knowledge with the community. With the formation of a multidisciplinary Editorial Team, we are moving into a new phase: more standardized, more modern, and aiming for clear quality standards, serving the right audience of citizens and patients. This is not only the effort of UMC alone, but also a joint effort of many healthcare institutions to build a comprehensive health communication network, with effective support tools and a strong core team.”
A significant highlight of the event was the launch of an AI Agent doctor assistant application for compiling health education communication content, developed by the UMC Communication Center in collaboration with EasyAI – JAMstack Vietnam. The operating model is based on three pillars: medical experts responsible for specialized content, AI providing technical support, and Communication ensuring appropriate dissemination to the community. The finalized content will be integrated into the website and AI chatbot so that citizens can easily look up disease information, symptoms, and health care in an official, safe, and convenient manner.
Dr. Đỗ Thị Nam Phương – Head of the Media Center emphasized that: “The application of artificial intelligence in health communication is not intended to replace medical professionals but to enhance capacity in the mission of disseminating knowledge and healing through understanding. UMC expects this model will continue to be refined and spread to many other healthcare facilities, jointly creating a standard health knowledge ecosystem for the community.
