University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital sign a memorandum of understanding to coordinate heart transplant treatment for pediatric patients

On the morning of December 29, 2025, the University Medical and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD) and Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on coordinating treatment for pediatric patients with end‑stage heart failure indicated for heart transplantation, marking a new development in the professional collaboration between the two leading medical institutions.

In the morning of December 29, 2025, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City (BV ĐHYD) and the Ho Chi Minh City Children’s Hospital organized a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on collaborative treatment for pediatric patients with end‑stage heart failure indicated for heart transplantation, marking a new development in the professional cooperation relationship between the two leading medical institutions.

The signing ceremony was held at the Hall of the Children’s Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, attended by the leadership team, leading cardiovascular and cardiac surgery experts, and representatives of the related units of both hospitals.
According to the agreement, both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in inter‑hospital consultations, accept pediatric patients indicated for heart transplantation, monitor and treat them while awaiting donor organs, provide long‑term care and follow‑up after transplantation, aiming to improve treatment quality and expand survival opportunities for children.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Trương Quang Định - Director of the Children’s Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City praised the close and harmonious cooperation between the two hospitals in treatment work over the past period, especially the consulting, multidisciplinary discussion and coordinated implementation of complex cases. He said that signing the MOU is an important basis for the two units to standardize and optimize the process of collaborative heart transplant treatment for pediatric patients, thereby shortening preparation time, improving care effectiveness and ensuring patient safety.

Representing the ĐHYD Hospital side, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Dinh – Deputy Director of the Hospital said that heart transplantation is a specialized technique, requiring coordinated collaboration among many specialties and medical facilities. Signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ho Chi Minh City Children Hospital not only demonstrates professional linkage between the two units, but also is an important step in the strategy to expand the pediatric heart transplantation cooperation network, providing many more treatment opportunities for children with severe heart failure.

Alongside professional cooperation, the two hospitals also focus on social work and patient support. Recently, the relevant units have coordinated consulting, morale encouragement and mobilized social resources to share the burden of treatment costs for the families of sick children. This is considered an important part of the comprehensive care model, helping patients and families feel confident in treatment, while also improving the quality of life after transplantation.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two hospitals not only carries deep professional significance, but also demonstrates social responsibility and companionship for the lives of sick children. Based on this cooperation, the two units expect to continue implementing many cooperative activitiespractical, sustainable, contributing to improving the quality of care and treatment of severe heart disease in children in the coming period.
