Pharmacist Dispensing Medication
Job Description
- Check the financial invoice (for main warehouse staff), or the goods receipt note (for retail dispensing warehouse staff) against the actual items for drug name, concentration/strength, quantity, sensory quality, expiration date...
- Arrange medicines in the storage area in the correct location, according to regulations.
- Allocate medicines according to each dispensing note, verify correct drug, concentration/strength, correct quantity, sensory quality, expiration date...
- Handle, resolve, and promptly report any issues arising during dispensing.
- Prepare medicines with the exact quantity, drug name, batch number, and expiration date according to the dispensing note.
- Cross-check the prepared drug name with the prescription for name and strength, and with the dispensing note for quantity
- Mark the medicines according to the order numbers listed on the prescription
- Review the usage instructions and dosage indicated on the prescription
- Verify the drug's indication against the diagnosis on the prescription. If any discrepancy or unreasonable issue is found, report immediately to the pharmacy operations manager
- Match the patient’s name, birth year, and address on the prescription with the receipt kept by the buyer after payment
- Cross-check each type and number of medicines against the prescription before delivering to the patient
- Instruct the medicine purchaser on how to use the medication according to the prescription:
+ Check the usage instructions on the prescription, mark any deviations to alert the patient
+ Guide the patient on how to read the prescription when taking medication.
- Receive and process returned medicines according to regulations.
- Store and arrange medicines according to the 3 easy, 5 prevent rules; dispense following FIFO, FEFO principles
- Monitor temperature and humidity twice daily, record in the monitoring log, and plot charts
- Regularly check the quantity and sensory quality of medicines
- Be responsible for loss, damage, or breakage of assets at the workplace
- Manage workplace assets in accordance with regulations
- Prevent loss and theft of assets
- Carry out immediate repairs for minor damages
- Maintain cleanliness at the workplace
- Use office supplies efficiently
Requirements
- Graduated with a College degree in Pharmacy.
- Professional practice certificate
- Prefer pharmacists with more than 1 year of relevant specialty experience or who have worked at Level 1 hospitals.
- Foreign language proficiency: Communicative English (Level A or higher)
- Basic computer skills
- Agile in work
- Ability to read and understand drug components
- Always follow assignments from supervisors
- Provide guidance and instruction to patients.
